Eighty Healing Touch practitioners, students and instructors attended our 7th annual Regional Symposium -- Self Care: Mind, Body & Spirit -- on April 20/21, 2013 at Town & Country resort in San Diego. This inclusive event brought together our entire HT community in the spirit of sharing, learning and love.
Pre-symposium activities on Saturday included a nurturing room with free HT treatments, a beautiful pinning ceremony conducted by Ann Seckinger and Carol Kinney to introduce new HT practitioners and instructors, and a networking event where attendees reunited with old friends and met new ones. New this year were two well-attended pre-symposium workshops, with Anne Day teaching Journaling Your Healing Journey in the morning, and Kathy Allan presenting It Takes a Special Person to Be a Healer addressing self care for PTSD in the afternoon.
On Sunday, our two keynote speakers focused on audience-participation presentations that taught attendees new techniques for self care. Cynthia Hutchison, DNSc, MSN, RN, HTCP/I, presented Full Body Prayer, a technique for stimulating and enlivening the etheric space in us and around us, bringing us into greater relationship with these life-giving forces. Myra Tovey, RNBS, CHTI/P, HN-BC, presented Heart Centered Living, a practice based on Brugh Joy’s four attributes of the heart -- compassion, innate harmony, a healing presence and unconditional love --invaluable assets for self-healing.
