Past Symposiums
In 2011, we held our 5th Annual Healing Touch California Regional Symposium in San Jose at the San Jose Airport and Garden Inn. This was a ‘coming home’ as we had held our 2nd Symposium here in 2008.
The Symposium is truly a ‘container’ to hold all of us California practitioners, students and instructors together and give us the chance to “Unite and Connect..Network…Expand and Energize our Work.” We even had a practitioner from Boston, Massachusetts! Sue Hoole, RN, CHTP/I, HTCP/I saw our website and had a ‘spark of recognition’ and had to come join us. How fabulous is that?
Our theme this year was “Expanding the Light of Resonant Healing” and we invited two incredible women as our Keynote Speakers: Jeannette Nienaber, BSc, Med, HTCP/I, ATP and Sue Hovland, RN, BSN, CMT, CHTP/I. They both spoke to and about the quality of resonance and healing. Their presentations were a synthesis of science, medicine, quantum concepts, qualities and sources of energy, and its many applications and expressions through Healing Touch techniques. They also brought a lot of humor, with opportunities to dance, laugh, do one-to-one techniques and see ourselves in a ‘greater’ light. At the end, our minds were open to more infinite possibilities, we learned several new techniques that could be put into practice and our hearts opened wide to each other. The quality of energy in the room was radiant, resonant and full of joy!
We also gifted two of our ‘founding mothers’ with Certificates of Appreciation and a nautilus-inspired silver jeweled necklace. Our recipients were Sharon Robbins, RN, HNC, CCHt, HTCP and Anne Day, BSN, MA, HNB-BC, CHTP/I and they were both taken completely by surprise! This is not easy to do when we women are all talking together for months before a Symposium! Sharon was committed to bringing together a network organization of California Healing Touch students, practitioners and instructors and Anne, in her own words, “was the head cheerleader” for this organization to come into being. We honor and appreciate and thank these two visionary women for their service to us, the community and the world.
As part of our celebration of the 5th year, the Board gave every participant, at registration, a vial of Lavender essential oil to assist us to Balance, Restore, Renew. At the closing ceremony, we also gifted everyone with a beautiful nautilus shell. This image was used as the basis of our new HT California logo. The Board had narrowed down the choices to two logos and we all had a chance to vote for the image we liked the most. You will be seeing this image soon on our website!
Although each year, after the Symposium, we all say “This was the best ever!” we all agreed that this year, our 5th year, was truly the best we have ever had…so far!
We invite you to join us in 2012 in Santa Barbara on April 28 – 29 for our 6th Annual Healing Touch California Regional Symposium!

HEALING TOUCH CALIFORNIA 4TH SYMPOSIUM
HOLDS ANNUAL PINNING CEREMONY
4th Annual Regional Symposium
On Sunday April 25, 2010, Healing Touch California presented their 4th Annual Regional Symposium, “Expanding the Light of Healing Connection“ at the Town & Country Resort (http://towncountry.com) in San Diego to once again, Unite & Connect with other HT Practitioners, Network, Expand and Energize Our “Work” and Learn New Energy Medicine Information. We also had so much fun being together
On Saturday, April 24, we again provided our “Nurturing Room”, beautifully put together by Beth Jahncke, Nina Zimmer and several other dedicated volunteers. The “Crescent Room” was resplendent with flowers, colored scarves, candles & a privacy screen – all of which created a beautiful ambience and setting. Once again StarEssence (http://staressence.com) provided aromatic and clearing room mists- Angel Rejuvenation spray was one of our favorites. It set ‘the field’ for healing, relaxation and peace. The result was an ambience of beauty, scent and relaxation for Healing Touch sessions. What a way to begin our Symposium!
Later on Saturday evening we had our popular ‘social hour’ gathering in the private dining room of the Trellises restaurant, with an outdoor patio, surrounded by walls covered with trailing ivy, flowers and a central fountain providing a delicate, soothing sound. The patio was aglow with lights and the energy of our group as the Healing Touch California healers came together to honor our newly Certified Healing Touch Practitioners from Healing Touch International and Healing Touch Program. Carol Kinney and Claramae Weber
once again welcomed our six (6) new healers and through a time honored ritual, our HT healers joined the ranks of leaders in the field of Healing Touch. Family, friends and colleagues witnessed the event, surrounding our new Certified HT Practitioners with love, support and enthusiasm. Congratulations !!!
Sunday’s day-long program featured outstanding speakers from Energy Medicine and the Healing Touch Community. Sharon Robbins and Candace MacNair opened the 4th Annual Symposium by reading a “Healing Touch Prayer” by Dianne Smith, while Ann Seckinger and Roberta Davis Lewis circled the group with sound and essential oil mist to ‘set the field’. Here is the prayer that was read:
In honor of the Divine, both without and within,
We open our souls to the healing power of the Universe.
We allow this loving, healing energy to flow to and through us and to bathe our body, mind and spirit in light and love.
In gratitude we accept this gift as it enters each area of our bodies and our lives that need this extra grave and positive, healing energy.
We send love and blessings to the Universe and beyond, and we accept them in return.
Namaste - Diane Smith, Ap;ril 2008
Candace MacNair, Leader of the Symposium Planning Committee, then welcomed everyone to the 4th Annual Symposium and to acknowledge and honor our choices: to hold the intention of healing, love and light for ourselves, our families and friend; to spend time and money in this economic climate to come together in support and the deep inner choice to be of service and serve for ‘the Highest Good’. This set the intention for our Symposium, synchronized perfectly with Claramae Weber who lead us in a profound visualization.
This beautiful, peaceful meditation was the opening to our first key note speaker, Joyce Whitely Hawkes, PhD, whose presentation Cell-Level Healing: How Biology and Spirit Intersect for Health. She included a Power Point presentation of electron microscope images of cells and cellular structures, a short video of brain wave testing and an intimate recounting of her near death experience. This pragmatic scientist brought her unique merging of healing, spirit and science that was inspiring.
During our Mediterranean themed lunch we had Presentations with Q&A on “HT in the Community” followed by a chance for all to share their perspective about their current practitioner practice in small breakout group discussions. The breakout group discussions were so popular at last year’s Symposium that not only was it brought back this year but also lengthened to give us all more time to share.
After lunch, we welcomed our keynote speakers from the HT Community, Linda Smith, RN, MS, HN-BC, HTCP, HTSM-CP/I, CCA and Claramae Weber, RN, HN-BC, CHTP, HTSM-CP/I, CCA. Claramae had already led us in a centering and deepening visualization to begin our day and provide the energetic ‘vehicle’ that carried into Joyce Whiteley Hawkes keynote and also provided the foundation for Linda Smith’s enlightening presentation on “Spirituality, Energy Healing & Anointing”. Through lecture and audio-visual she provided a multi-level learning experience that opened many new avenues of healing, especially with essential oils. At the end of our Symposium, Linda and Claramae were part of our ending ceremony by giving us an anointing & blessing ceremony for all participants.
Our Vendors:
As usual, we had an eclectic, interesting vendor exhibit area with many returning vendors. Robert Davis- Lewis, was our Vendor Coordinator and also owner of Davis Lewis Orchards, which annually has given us the organic dried fruit and nut ‘goodies’ we have come to love. Davis Lewis Orchards also provided us with samples and nibbles for us to keep up our energy during the Symposium. Thank you!
We were happy to have some new vendors. Pali’s Gem Songs are original precious, semi-precious and crystal designs. She came all the way from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. We also welcomed back ‘our’ bookstore, Paradise Found and StarEssence, source of sacred elixirs and sprays, both from Santa Barbara. Paradise Found created their usual lavish and abundant display of books, scarves, music & gifts. StarEssence provided samples of their sprays and elixirs for us to try and the atmosphere was positively uplifting! Our own HT California, HTP, HTI and ISHA all had information tables, along with the HT Worldwide Foundation.

On Saturday, April 25, we opened our “Nurturing Room”, beautifully put together by Beth Jahncke, Candace MacNair and Nina Zimmer. The ‘private dining room’ was transformed with roses, candles & a privacy screen along with StarEssence donated aromatic and clearing room mists. The result was an ambience of beauty, scent and relaxation for Healing Touch sessions. Many HT practitioners came straight to the room after driving for several hours, to become calm, peaceful and relaxed. It was a complete success!
On Saturday evening we had our popular ‘social hour’ gathering at the hotel to greet our old friends and meet new ones; share in a powerful pinning ceremony of our newest Certified Practitioners by Carol Kinney and Claramae Weber and then to enjoy an optional no-host Dinner in the Holiday Inn dining room. We were also entertained by an impromptu piano concert by Theresa Foster!
Sunday’s day-long program featured outstanding speakers from our Healing Touch Community: Anne Day BSN, MA, CMT, HN-BC, CHTP/I who spoke eloquently on “Creating Sacred Community – Living Healing Touch” followed by Barb Kelly, RN, CHTP & Carol Maleki, CHTP discussing “The Nuts and Bolts of Bringing HT to Patients in Your Healthcare Community“. During our Mediterranean themed lunch we had Presentations with Q&A on “HT in the Community” followed by a chance for all to share their perspective about current practitioner practice in small breakout group discussions.
The breakout group discussions were so popular at last year’s Symposium that not only was it brought back this year but also lengthened to give us all more time to share. In addition, we had an open meeting led by Sharon Robbins to discuss the future of Healing Touch California. Sharon also extended an invitation for one of our community to ‘step forward’ and take the lead on the Symposium Planning Committee. In closing we all joined in our Circle of Light for a blessing ceremony.
As usual, we had an eclectic, interesting vendor exhibit area with many returning vendors: Davis Lewis Orchards, Rhinehart’s Pyramids along with HT California, HTP, HTI and ISHA. We had two new vendors: Paradise Found Gift & Bookstore and StarEssence elixirs & mists, both of whom added excitement, creativity & uplifting energy to our Symposium.

2nd Annual Regional Symposium
Our HT California 2nd Annual Regional Symposium was held April 27, 2008 in San Jose, CA to Connect and Unite HT practitioners in Northern California. Again, like our 1st Symposium, it was a HUGE success.
At our “Networking” Social/Dinner Saturday, we enjoyed ourselves catching up with old friends; meeting new practitioners and all enjoyed the Pinning Ceremony of our newest Certified Practitioners led by Carol Kinney and Claramae Weber. Our Sunday Program featured two extraordinary women working in the field of energy medicine, Vicki Slater, RN, Ph.D,. HNC, CHTP/I who explained the “Physics” of Energy Healing and Anodea Judith, Ph.D., who shared her new spectacular visual presentation about the heart as integrator of mind & body – supporting her life work – “Choosing Love for our Future.”
Our Experiential Breakout-out Group Discussion of “Current Perspective on Your HT Practice” focusing on challenges/stumbling blocks and setting intentions and objectives was so helpful and enjoyed that we will repeat this part of our program at our 2009 Symposium and will actually expand the time for it.
Thanks to the hard work of all of our Committee members, all of our vendors, the beautiful grounds of the Holiday Inn, the wonderful staff there and the Community we are building our event was fantastic and we look forward to our 3rd Symposium in 2009.
1st Annual Regional Symposium
HEALING TOUCH CALIFORNIA, a network for practitioners of Healing Touch, is delighted to announce that our 1st Annual Regional Symposium on April 29, 2007 – held in San Diego, was a HUGE success! Comments and evaluations from the attendees confirm that our goals to unite and connect HT practitioners; network; energize and expand our “work” and offer new energy medicine information were definitely met. In addition, we rekindled a spirit of community with California Healing Touch practitioners.
Everyone expressed their deep appreciation for the opportunity to be together. Maybe it is simply that we benefit from and enjoy being with our HT family because the resounding request is that we do this again next year (2008).
We have a deep “Thank You” for our Keynote speakers, Dr. Valerie Hunt and Dr. Mimi Guarneri, who were a big part of our fabulous experience. Dr. Hunt (gorgeous, vibrant and passionate in her 90s!) taught us her Bioscalar Technique and encouraged us to teach our patients, clients, family and friends how to do it on themselves and with each other. We practiced the technique while Dr. Hunt guided us and many experienced immediate benefit. She also shared that she will be producing a TV program on her own website that will educate the public about bio-fields and energy medicine. Dr. Guarneri went beyond the information she presented at our 2006 HTI conference to include very specific lifestyle guidelines for healthy heart living. Many who were not able to be at that HTI conference expressed how great it was to hear her at our Symposium.
